Star Talks About Who May Not Make It To The End of Current Arrow Season

Tripwire’s friends at sciencefiction.com ran an interview with Diggle aka David Ramsey from Arrow speculating just who will end up in the grave seen at the very beginning of this season

In a recent interview with EW, Arrow star David Ramsey opens up about this season’s mystery, just which character is going to end up in the grave we saw in the season premiere. Fans have been speculating all season on which character will die, especially since the producers have said this death will stick. To start the interview, Ramsey jokes about the environment on set now, as anyone could end up in that grave:“It makes for a great work environment, doesn’t it? You’re on your best behavior. It’s like I used to be late to set, now I’m not. I asked. I wanted to know. Is Diggle dead? Is it me? They didn’t tell me… In terms of what we do, there’s really a death every season, to some degree. They’re offing people every year. It reminds me of when I used to do Dexter. I used to go to the back to the script and see if it’s me who dies. I haven’t done that yet. I don’t know who it is.”

Following that, he shared his thoughts on all of the potential deaths, starting with his own character, Diggle:“I would think that Diggle would have more in terms of the military ceremony. There would be flags in place. You would think that, but maybe the flag was out of frame, so it could be Diggle.”Next up, he tackled the idea of Felicity being 6 feet under:“I just can’t see them messing with that relationship. Also, I don’t even know if [Oliver] would be able to talk if it was Felicity. He would just be so broken.”And then the next option, poor Laurel Lance, who just came into her own as the Black Canary, and is the actual love interest of Oliver in the comics:“I just can’t see them putting the father through that again. He already lost a daughter, then he thought he didn’t lose a daughter, then he did, then he didn’t again. Putting poor Lance through all this stuff.”Of course there’s the chance it is Thea, but Ramsey does not think it likely:“If you take Thea, his whole family is dead except for him!”

Ramsey had more to say about the possibility of the death being Paul Blackthorne’s character, Detective Lance, especially since that is the most likely suspect according to most fans, especially since he started seeing Donna Smoak:“I know who it’s not. I don’t think it’s Lance. [Oliver] was really, really upset about it [the death]. I mean, he likes Lance, but he doesn’t like him that much. He was really wounded by this death.”Ramsey also speaks on the idea that it might be a lesser known character, i.e. someone from Oliver’s past (i.e. Taiana his current flashback lady friend, his baby mama (whose name we do not yet know), or Shado’s sister Mei):“It might be someone from the past, or someone who we don’t know of that comes up and ends up being very important to Oliver and he loses that person.”Of course, the most interesting and random theory Ramsey states has to do with the more science-fictional elements of the show, and its sister show ‘The Flash’ :“It throws me off because Grant shows up and they have this twin Earth, this Earth-Two story going on, it’s like parallel universes…Is that what that was? It’s very tough. The writers are so good. Now since you have introduced metahumans, time travel and parallel earths, it’s an infinite amount of possibilities that could be in that grave.”At the end of the interview, the only thing we can really take from David Ramsey is that he firmly believes it is not Detective Lance in the grave, which definitely flies in the face of a lot of evidence we have seen. He might have a point about the Earth-2 theory, as that would allow the producers to have their cake (i.e. their statements that the death is real and irrevocable) and eat it too (it would be a major character’s doppelgänger from Earth 2, meaning they did not actually have to kill a character). Only time will tell.

Of course this week is the eagerly-awaited Arrow/ The Flash crossover so we are sure that viewers will have to wait a little bit longer to find out.
