Time To Make A Regular Appointment With The Thirteenth Doctor
♦ The BBC has already announced when the new Doctor Who will kick off but here’s a little promo for it from WeGotThisCovered…
Here’s a few details about the new doctor from the Radio Times website too:
Each incarnation of the Doctor from William Hartnell to the present day has had their own unique personality and quirks, while still maintaining the core nature of the character – and while we haven’t seen much of Whittaker in action, her character’s brief appearance post-regeneration in the 2017 Christmas special gives us a flavour.
Catching sight of herself in a reflective surface, the Thirteenth Doctor exclaims “Oh, brilliant!” – a far cry from the melancholy exit for Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor, and perhaps a suggestion of this new Doctor’s more positive outlook.
“In such a tiny moment, she’s given us the Doctor we’ve always known, but in, to say the least, a new way,” ex-showrunner Steven Moffat said of the actor’s first scene in the role. “We are in for a very exciting run.”
More recently, BBC Drama controller Piers Wenger said that Whittaker’s new incarnation was a departure from Time Lords past.
“It’s a testament to the energy and focus that Jodie has brought to Doctor Who that it’s hard to distinguish where one ends and the other begins,” he told Radio Times.
“She said from the start that she could only do it her way and so it has become.
He added: “Gone is the daffiness and idiosyncrasy of her predecessors in favour of a Doctor with energy, spark and relatability.”
