A Watery Grave?
♦New Hellboy original graphic novel Into The Silent Sea written by Mike Mignola and drawn by Gary Gianni is out this Wednesday and here’s a preview of the book ahead of our review…
Olly Macnamee on Hellboy: Into The Silent Sea
One part a clear homage to the gothic classic, The Rime of The Ancient Mariner by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, another part Melville’s Moby Dick, and one last part HP Lovecraft, Mike Mignola (writer) and Gary Gianni reunite to offer up this all-new, original graphic novel set after the events of Hellboy: The Island, in which our hero is stranded on the high seas all alone. A bit like an ancient mariner I know!
“Hellboy sets sail from the wreckage of a deserted island only to cross paths with a ghost ship. Taken captive by the phantom crew that plans to sell him to the circus, Hellboy is dragged along by a captain who will stop at nothing in pursuit of a powerful sea creature.”
And, look out for my review in the coming weeks. A worthy inclusion into the Hellboy mythos, I can tell you know.
Hellboy: Into The Silent Sea is out on 2 May.
