Who is David Bradley playing in the Doctor Who Christmas special 2017?
Game of Thrones star David Bradley will take on the role of the First Doctor, filling in for the late William Hartnell.
Steven Moffat has said that Bradley’s recreation “is so eerily perfect, it could fool you”.
Speaking on the season 10 finale after-show, he said: “At this moment we’re filming the Twelfth Doctor and the First Doctor meeting.
“I’ve just been watching a scene where Bradley is so perfectly William Hartnell, you could be convinced it’s him.”
Bradley played Hartnell in the BBC docudrama An Adventure in Space and Time, which told the story of Doctor Who’s creation.
His appearance as the First Doctor marks the first time the character has appeared on screen since 1983s The Five Doctors.

What will happen in the Doctor Who Christmas special 2017?
Bradley’s involvement in the festive instalment was first rumoured in April, when it was said that the episode would see the First and Twelfth Doctors team up to save Gallifrey by freezing it in a pocket universe.
If this sounds familiar, it’s because it is exactly the plot of the 50th anniversary special, The Day of the Doctor.
According to Radio Times, the 2013 episode’s events will be shown from the First and Twelfth Doctors’ perspective.
Peter Capaldi made his first on-screen appearance as the Doctor in the special as all 13 Doctors united to save Gallifrey from the Daleks.
