Tears In The Rain?
♦ Tripwire sent its own Blade Runner, editor-in-chief JOEL MEADOWS, on a special mission to check out Secret Cinema Presents Blade Runner: A Secret Live Experience recently…
Secret Cinema has become quite a phenomena over the past few years. it has hosted things like Back To The Future, Doctor Strangelove and The Empire Strikes Back. This time around they have chosen Ridley Scott’s seminal 1981 Blade Runner film to construct their immersive cinema experience. And of course on pain of death or something like that, we are sworn to secrecy about what takes place. So here is a preview of what took place written in as broad a way as I can possibly manage with a few photos supplied by them…
We met somewhere In London where we are asked to seal our mobile phones in our jackets while we are ushered in to the space. The setting is one which will appeal to fans of the film and even the concessions there echo certain aspects of the 1982 film. Secret Cinema stands or falls on attention to detail and Secret Cinema Presents Blade Runner: A Secret Live Experience works because it does mirror certain things from the film including certain scenes from the film, which shall remain shrouded in secrecy unless the reader here visits the event. The space has been dressed appropriately and aficionados of Deckard and co will find much to enjoy here.
Many of the ‘audience’ here got into the spirit of Secret Cinema and dressed accordingly. So when you are seated to see the film, you are in the correct mindset to appreciate it fully.
Secret Cinema Presents Blade Runner: A Secret Live Experience is a thoroughly enjoyable evening out in London and Blade Runner lends itself perfectly to the sort of immersive cinema that Secret Cinema does well when it picks the appropriate film. Here’s a few photos from the event supplied by the organisers.
