Get Ready For Spock
Star Trek: Discovery begins on 17 January on CBS Access and here’s Sonequa Martin Green (Burnham) and its executive producer Alex Kurtzman talking to SyFy Wire about the new season…
Created by Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman for CBS All Access, the story of Star Trek: Discovery begins roughly a decade before Captain Kirk’s five-year mission — as portrayed in the original “Star Trek” from the 1960s — and a century after the events of “Star Trek: Enterprise.” and a century before Star Trek: The Next Generation. The series follows the crew of the USS Discovery as they encounter new worlds and civilizations, delving into familiar themes and expanding upon an incident that has been talked about within the franchise’s universe, but never fully explored.
We don’t know much about the plot for season two but showrunner Aaron Harberts did offer a few vague suggestions a few months back on Radio Times:
Without going into detail, Harberts has promised that season two will feel a bit more like the Star Trek TV series we know and love. “We have time [in season two]—we have time to do things like more away missions, newer planets,” he says. “These are stories that might fall a little bit more into a framework of allegory that people love to get from Trek. But we will always continue to have that overarching serialised thread.”
