Westworld Season 2 Shuts Down Production After California Fires

Return To Westworld May Be Delayed

♦ The fires in southern California have been the most severe that region has seen in years and HBO’s Westworld, currently shooting its second season, has just suspended shooting due to them…

ScreenRant reported on it this week:

Westworld season 2 has shut down production for safety in the midst of California’s wildfire season. The second season of the HBO drama has shut down production once before due to an actor’s injury, but this marks the second delay in filming the popular series’ return outing.

As three major separate wildfires rage across the southern part of the state, HBO has suspended production on the series until the fire is under control. The cable provider released a statement to THR on the production’s suspension insisting that everything is fine and they will resume production as soon as it’s safe to do so for all involved.

“Due to nearby wildfires, Westworld stopped production earlier today and will resume filming as soon as it’s safe to do so.”

Westworld stars Sir Anthony Hopkins, Evan Rachel Wood, Ed Harris, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Jimmi Simpson, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolso Berdal, Ben Barnes, Simon Quarterman, Angela Sarafyan, Clifton Collins Jr, and Luke Hemsworth. The show has added Gustaf Skarsgard (Vikings), Fares Fares (Tyrant), Betty Gabriel (Get Out), Jonathan Tucker (Justified), Neil Jackson (Sleepy Hollow), Katja Herbers (The Leftovers) and Hiroyuki Sanada (The Wolverine). The show is produced by showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy.

It was expected that the second season would start in spring next year but it is possible that the delays may push it back.
