Not Just Killing Time

♦ We here at Tripwire always like to support comic-related kickstarter and crowdfunding campaigns. Jimmy Palmiotti with Craig Weeden and Justin Norman is running a kickstarter for their graphic novel project Killing Time In America so here’s details of that campaign…

Hello again and welcome back to Kickstarter #10 for the crew of PAPERFILMS.  This time we are raising funds to produce a HARDCOVER edition of our newest 112 page GRAPHIC novel entitled: KILLING TIME IN AMERICA!

This story follows a group of European killers, posing as a vacationing family, coming to the United States to film their killing spree, and the detective that is after them. This story contains graphic violence and sexuality and is for ADULTS ONLY.

This book features the art of JUSTIN [JONAH HEX, HARLEY QUINN] NORMAN, aka Moritat,  the colors of PAUL [AVENGERS, HARLEY QUINN, X-MEN] MOUNTS and the lettering and design of JOHN J HILL. Above and below you will find some examples of the unlettered pages from the book. We think they are stunning. The red lines in the art are for the Kickstarter campaign only and will not be in the book. The bars are required by Kickstarter for the adults-only main page.

KILLING TIME IN AMERICA is a 112 page, hardcover, our third hardcover since QUEEN CRAB and RETROVIRUS! We have listened to you guys and gone this route once again!

The amount of money we are asking will directly be going to the printing production of this hardcover graphic novel, the special edition prints, pay to the talent and to pay everyone involved, but the authors. They worked for free on this project in order to have this story printed!

We’ve got some exciting tiers available for our backers, ranging from digital versions for those overseas who face high shipping costs, to signed editions, exclusive prints, limited AMANDA [HARLEY QUINN, BEFORE WATCHMEN, PAINKILLER JANE] CONNER covers and original art by the team including Dave Johnson, Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmiotti and another mystery artist.

To wrap up this beautiful hardcover, we have JOHN J. HILL designing the interiors and exteriors of the book, as well as doing all the lettering.  John has worked with us on a number of projects in the past and his eye for detail and design makes him the best in the business. Check out his work here if you don’t believe us:

Finally, we were going to go with the regular teaser of art in the video section, however, we thought the idea of doing a film trailer for the graphic novel was a fun idea. Armed with a super limited budget and unlimited imagination, my buddy Chris R. Notarize grabbed his camera and went crazy and shot this beauty for our campaign. A little about Chris:

Chris is a 2005 graduate from the School of Visual Arts with a BFA in animation, specifically acquired to become a more efficient filmmaker. Majoring in Stop-Motion Animation, (a sub-genre in which films like “Corpse Bride” and “The Nightmare Before Christmas” are created), Chris learned various techniques in the art of special FX making, from makeup and prosthetic work to set design and prop building.

Upon his graduation, Chris had already amassed nearly twenty short film credits to his name and by 2017, eclipsing well over 300. Some of his more notable works include the very popular online horror fan film, “The Nightmare Ends on Halloween”, a horror short that brings Freddy, Michael, Jason, Leatherface and Pinhead together. The viral PSA-The Powerpuff Girls, which is Chris’ fasted growing video; the notorious online film serial, “The Deadpool Webseries”, (which caught the jealous eye of 20th Century Fox) and the fan favorite “Krueger: Tales from Elm Street”, which has been hailed as the definitive origin series for Freddy Krueger by fans and ANOS alumni alike.

In his time, Chris has amassed a notable fanbase via his Youtube channel with over 57,000 subscribers and over 27 million channel views. Chris is currently CEO of his own company, Blinky Productions Inc. He operates out of Long Beach and has produced dozens of commercials, music videos, event coverage, short films and feature films.

We cannot recommend enough you check out his work here.  We’re thrilled to have him consider our project and thanks again, my friend!

So from the entire KILLING TIME IN AMERICA team, we hope you consider backing any one of the many exciting tiers and join us in this amazing project.  We can’t thank you enough for your consideration and support.  Without the effort of the team and the fans, these projects sometimes don’t get to exist!  Your support means everything!

Thanks from the entire KILLING TIME IN AMERICA team!!!!
